Human civilization has been built by receiving energy from the sun. Fusion recreates the sun’s mechanism on Earth—an energy revolution that shifts humanity from energy “receiver” to “creator,” likely the largest and final energy revolution in our history. Its impact could reshape human activity at the deepest level.

 

Fusion energy emits no CO2, uses near-inexhaustible fuel derived from seawater, and is inherently easier to keep safe, with no runaway accident in principle. It can overcome the limits of today’s energy sources—environmental burden, finite resources, and safety—at the same time.

 

With stable, sustainable fusion energy, humanity can be freed from the problem of “how to secure energy.” What comes next? We may redirect our capabilities from necessity-driven thinking to more creative pursuits. At minimum, humanity will “evolve” into something new.
