On May 31, Dr. Junichi Miyazawa, Co-Founder and CTO of Helical Fusion, was invited to deliver a special lecture at the annual meeting of The Japan Society of Vacuum and Surface Science, held in Tokyo.
As the only representative from the fusion energy sector, we were honored to speak at this prestigious event. “Vacuum science” is undeniably a foundational field in fusion reactor development, and its complexity extends far beyond simply creating a vacuum—it requires deep expertise in maintaining and predicting vacuum quality under extreme conditions.
In his lecture, Dr. Miyazawa highlighted how Helical Fusion’s original liquid metal blanket design—a key engineering feature of our steady-state reactor—not only supports plasma performance and heat removal, but also introduces important new perspectives in vacuum technology.
The session sparked active discussion, demonstrating strong cross-disciplinary interest.
At Helical Fusion, we will continue to engage closely with the scientific community, ensuring that our technologies advance in harmony with foundational research as we pursue the realization of practical fusion energy.
