On May 24, 2025, Takaya Taguchi, Co-Founder & CEO of Helical Fusion, delivered a keynote lecture in Ishigaki Island, Okinawa.
Hosted by the Junior Chamber International Yaeyama, the session was titled “Island Energy Hack! Fusion Energy to Power the Future” and spanned approximately 90 minutes.
Takaya discussed the strategic importance of fusion energy and its potential to help solve pressing energy challenges in remote island communities.
The audience engaged actively, asking insightful questions about both the science of fusion and its potential role in shaping the energy future of the Yaeyama Islands.
For Helical Fusion, this event served as a powerful reminder of the relevance of fusion energy in Japan’s unique island context. Islands not only reflect Japan’s geographical realities but also highlight the need for sustainable, self-sufficient, and nature-conscious energy solutions.
Fusion energy holds tremendous promise—not only for achieving energy independence but also for preserving the pristine environments of island communities by enabling clean, efficient, and compact power generation.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the Junior Chamber International Yaeyama for connecting Helical Fusion with the people of Yaeyama under the shared hope of "lighting up the future.”
We remain committed to realizing the world’s first steady-state fusion reactor from "Japanese Islands".
